It is important that when you see Fix Radial Distance (FRDs) of a flight plan that you understand what it means. FRDs will often be included in an aircraft’s route of flight. Knowing how to interpret and locate these fixes will help you determine where an aircraft is coming from or going to and the location of other events, weather phenomena, etc.

The following eLearning practice activity will help you gain proficiency in working with FRDs You will:

  • identify components that comprise a FRD
  • practice determining the location of these fixes on a map
  • identify the phraseology for the components of a fix
  • determine the direction of flight based on FRDs
